Case Studies

Case Studies#

Most weeks begin with a particular use case of AI in society, presented by the instructor. In class, your group (3–4 students) analyzes the case using the DTPA framework, answering key questions with evidence. Early on, groups focus on one component of DTPA at a time (Data, then Tools, then Practices); later, groups apply the full framework and are expected to find additional cases in the same area (e.g., voting, criminal justice, the environment) to synthesize across uses.

Alongside the group case analysis, each student completes an individual Effort and Metacognitive Report (~250 words): how you contributed to the case analysis, how your learning is going, and a disclosure of any AI use in your work.

Format#

  • Group case analysis: team of 3–4, using the group case study template (TODO — link)
  • Individual effort report: ~250 words

Rhythm#

  • Most weeks, due at the end of the week

Submission#

  • D2L Brightspace
  • (TODO) Confirm D2L setup for group submissions

📌 See the syllabus for how Case Analyses and Effort Reports factor into your Case Studies grade.
